My Exhibition! £1500 for Alzheimer’s! WOW!

Thursday 13th February was the date and Solihull Arts Complex was the venue for my second and much anticipated photography exhibition!

Fundraising for The Alzheimer’s Society, the evening was a very glamourous and sophisticated affair, like nothing ever held at the gallery, with handmade and decorated cup cakes by KC Cakes (wellhellocake@gmail.com), wine and donations flowing! Over 140 people passed through the gallery, with photos on display and for sale ranging from subjects like the great British coast to further afield such as South Africa and Las Vegas. The best sellers on the night were that of Baddesley Clinton, Heart in the Sand and New York Times Square!

The event has so far raised nearly £1500 for the charity. An amazing feat that I am very proud of!

It was very overwhelming to see so many people in attendance and considering I was only hoping to raise £400, I am delighted with the generosity of everyone and of course to have sold many of my photographs, which are now on show in peoples homes! That is so rewarding, especially as landscapes and architecture are photos I only ever take for my own pleasure, which the public never see.

The event, sponsored by Simon Burt the Estate Agent, took 3 months to plan and is my way of acknowledging the ten year anniversary of the death of my Mother-in-Law, Jan, who lost her fight against Alzheimer’s when my other half Nick was just 21. Nick is also running the Brighton Marathon in April in his late Mother’s memory and together we hope to bring the total donations to £2000.

Solihull has an ageing population, so supporting a charity such as Alzheimer’s is important not only for individual’s and supporting families like mine, but also the wider community. Having representatives of the charity also attending my exhibition meant it was a chance for locals to ask questions about the illness, such as Marion, who purchased a picture of Baddesley Clinton to show her support and who’s Father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

To donate (even £1 makes a difference) you can visit my Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/sarahexhibition or to look at or buy the photos that were exhibited, you can visit my Facebook page www.facebook.com/sarahrphotography to see all the details, sizes and costs! Of course it is all for charity, so I am more than happy to take an offer on any of the pieces available!
